Precautions:

• It’s a good idea to start with an allergy test before treating your child with essential oils. You can do this by placing 1 drop on the inside of the arm at the level of the elbow. Wait 1-2 hours to see if there is any reaction.
• Do not use essential oil on children younger than 30 months.
• Do not leave your kids alone with essential oils.
• Be careful not to get any in the eyes.
• Do not use citrus essential oils directly on the skin or in the bath water without a carrier oil.
• Peppermint and eucalyptus should only be used in a diffuser.
• If the tea tree is too strong it can be diluted in a carrier oil.
• Do not over do it on the amounts. Too many oils could irritate your child’s skin.
• If your child has severe health problems consult a physician or aromatherapist before using essential oils. When in doubt check it out.

Eucalyptus

Application:

• Put 3 drop of pine, 3 drops of eucalyptus, 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of lemon in a small bowl of hot water. The water must be hot but not too hot to avoid burning. Soak a cloth in the mixture to absorb the water and wrap around around your elbow as a compress.
• Add 2 drops of each to arnica cream and apply around the elbow and on the forearm.

Aromatherapy for Tonsillitis:

Lemon
Ginger
• Tea Tree
Lavender

Application:

• Put 3 drops of ginger and 2 drops of lemon in 2 tablespoons of water and use like a mouth rinse. Do not swallow.
• Add 2 drops of each to a 1 tablespoon of olive oil and rub in your neck where your tonsils are situated.
• Put 2 drops of each in a bowl of boiling hot water. Place a towel over your head and your head over the bowl to breathe in the steam. If you find hard to breathe you can remove the towel to let more oxygen in.

Aromatherapy for Varicose Veins:

• Rosemary
Lemon
Juniper
• Peppermint

Application:

• Add 2 drops of each to 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil and massage the affected areas. The pressure should be softer on the veins and around them.

Aromatherapy for Vomiting:

• Peppermint
• Tarragon
Lemon

Application:

• Put 2 drops of each to 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil and apply around the throat and in a straight line going down to your stomach.

Aromatherapy for Wrinkles:

• Rose wood

Application:

• Add 3 drops of rose wood essential oil to 1 teaspoon of rosehip seed oil and massage into the skin. The mixture could be used a few times.

Aromatherapy for Zona:

Eucalyptus
Basil
• Peppermint

Application:

• Put one drop of each to a bit of neutral cream and apply to the irritated or sensitive zones.
